Red aesthetic has become incredibly popular on TikTok lately, and it’s easy to see why. Red is a special color. It’s the color of blood, and life. But it’s also often depicted as the color of violence and anger. On the color spectrum, it’s on the total opposite end of the tranquil violet. (Remember ROYGBIV?) But red is so much more than that. Even in ancient cave paintings, the first pigment humans managed to use was the color red. So if you’re into the red aesthetic, it’s totally understandable why you want your bedroom, apartment, or dorm room to have this look. Here are some tips on how you can achieve this at home.
Roses, and Other Red Flowers
One of the easiest ways to get the color red into your house is by getting a bouquet of red flowers.
Cherries, Strawberries, Apples, and Other Red Fruit
An easy and healthy way to bring a splash of red into your life is to buy red fruits like cherries, strawberries, and apples. If you can display a nice bowl of red fruit on your kitchen table or island, you’re immediately getting that pop of color. People with a neurological condition called synesthesia say that they can taste and smell colors. They have said that red tastes like cherry. When you think about it, if you were to ask almost anyone to choose a color that red tastes like, they would probably give that answer, too. Red starbursts are the best, after all.
Do Red Crafts
If you’re on a tight budget, you may not be able to afford a total home makeover. But that doesn’t stop you from doing some crafting. Check out your local craft store, and gravitate towards the color red. Even Dollar Tree has craft supplies.
Red Fashion Accessories
With many of the TikTok aesthetics, you might not want to make over your whole house in the color red. But an easy way to bring it to your life is by buying some fashion accessories to get the look, instead. Scarves, sunglasses, and jewelry are all easy ways to bring the red aesthetic into your life.
Listen to Red Aesthetic Playlists
On YouTube, there are a lot of aesthetic playlists out there to help you get into the mood. After listening to a few, I can confirm that they’re pretty great.
Tap Into the Root Chakra
In Hinduism, the color red represents “Muladhara”, or the root chakra. The root chakra starts at the base of your spine, and goes downwards. It helps you stay grounded both mentally and physically. If your root chakra is off balance, you may feel insecure. But if your red rook chakra is active, you’re going to feel grounded, secure, trust, and safe. I highly recommend listening to Deepak Chopra’s charka meditation. Also check out our list of meditations you can get on YouTube for free.
